English Language Development
The English Literacy Development (ELD) programs strives to assist students in developing fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills so students can access learning content through the English Language. The ELD program focuses on five points of the Linguistic Star: Phoneology ( the sound of letters); Morphology ( the meaning of words); Syntax ( the order of words); Lexicon ( the personal dictionary / database of learners); Semantics ( understanding the meaning of words. Through the use of the systematic study of grammar created by Heidi Koski, ELD students work under the umbrella of the TUSD's Language Acquisition program to develop the learners English Language to prepare them for success in the academia.
The ELD program welcomes individuals and groups who would be interested in reading with and practicing individually or in small groups with learners to help develop the learners skill in reading, writing, speaking and listening. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact the front office 520.225.3500
